An enterprising group of Houston ladies are reportedly turning their love of knitting into a charitable outreach efforts dedicated to helping several different causes:

According to its website, the Helping Hands Ladies of Cypress use their skills to turn ordinary threads into extraordinary gifts for those in need.

From hats and scarves, to baby blankets and quilts, the Ladies are skilled, able to put their handiwork to create a variety of items for those less fortunate.

The group, which includes 25 active members, makes hats and quilts for organizations such as hospice centers, memory care centers, the Ronald McDonald House, Boys and Girls Country, the Shaken Baby Syndrome Campaign, and the American Heart Association.  The group received notoriety as a result of their "Harvey's Heroes" Initiative where hand knit "Hero Hats" were distributed to first res ponders in the aftermath of one of Houston's, the Nation's, most damaging hurricanes to date.
